Project Description

The result of a ten-year collaborative effort between the Cowlitz County Historical Society and other community groups, the Port of Kalama Administrative Office and Interpretive Center is a unique blend of an exhibition space and a functional office. The focus of the interpretive center is to highlight the city of Kalama as a transportation hub, chronicling changes through time. The 13,500 sf building was designed to resemble a traditional waterfront warehouse from the 1800s, and features a stained concrete floor, open floor plan, and a wood and metal exterior.
